UI/UX and product design

BrightStack Digital

Design decides whether people can actually use what has been built. UI/UX and product design covers the structure behind an interface as much as its surface: what appears, in what order, and what happens next.

Because the same studio also develops the result, design work stays grounded in what can be built well rather than what looks good in a static mockup.

Capabilities

  • UX research and product flows
  • Information architecture
  • Wireframing
  • Interface design
  • Responsive interface design
  • Design systems and component libraries
  • Prototyping
  • Web application interfaces
  • Digital product design
  • Motion and interaction design
  • Accessibility and usability review
  • Design to development handover

Flows before screens

Most interface problems are sequencing problems. A screen looks fine on its own and falls apart as the third step in a task nobody mapped.

Work starts with the paths people need to complete — signing up, finding a product, submitting a request, reading a report — and the screens follow from those.

Interface and responsive design

Interface design covers hierarchy, typography, spacing, colour, states and the components an interface is assembled from.

Responsive behaviour is designed rather than inherited: what collapses, what reorders, what gets hidden and what has to stay reachable on a small screen.

Design systems

Once a product has more than a handful of screens, consistency stops being a matter of care and becomes a matter of structure.

  • Type scale, spacing and colour defined as reusable tokens
  • Component states covering default, hover, focus, active, disabled, loading and error
  • Patterns for forms, tables, navigation and empty states
  • Documentation aimed at whoever builds and extends it next

Prototyping

Prototypes exist to settle disagreements early. An interaction that reads well in a flat layout often feels wrong the moment it moves, and that is much cheaper to discover before development.

Depending on the question, a prototype might be a clickable flow or a working frontend slice of the real interface.

Motion and interaction

Motion is treated as part of the interface, not decoration applied afterwards. Its job is to show relationships, confirm actions and make transitions legible.

Reduced-motion preferences are respected, and content is never made dependent on an animation running.

How design connects to development

Design and development are not separate engagements here. Interface decisions are made with knowledge of how they will be implemented, and implementation questions feed back into the design.

In practice that removes the usual gap between an approved design and a built version that quietly differs from it.

Can you design an interface without building it?

Yes. Design can be delivered on its own, with components, states and responsive behaviour documented for your development team.

Do you design for web applications as well as websites?

Yes. Application interfaces are a core part of this work, including dashboards, portals and data-heavy screens where states and edge cases matter more than page layout.

Can you work with an existing brand or design system?

Yes. Existing brand assets and component libraries can be extended rather than replaced, with gaps identified and filled where needed.

How do I start?

Send through a short outline of the project on the contact page. The next step is a discovery conversation, followed by a written scope and price before any work begins.

Have a project in mind?

Let’s talk.

Tell me about your project. Whether it’s a new website, a redesign or custom functionality.

Quick response.

If you’re ready to create something considered and effective, tell me what you have in mind.

Clear next steps.

After our first conversation, I’ll outline the requirements, scope and next steps before anything moves forward.
